(Wikipedia) A tough-as-nails detective embarks on a relentless pursuit to free his son from a nightmarish alien warship. The film is divided into three parts. There will be some things people might consider &quot;spoilers&quot;I explain the 3 parts. <br/><br/>We are first introduced to Mark (Frank Grillo) an LA policeman who loves his drink, which doesn&#39;t play much into the film. Aliens attack and take up people using a blue light. There are fight scenes until Mark and his party gets sucked up. Inside the ship, which appears bigger on the inside than outside and is very organic, we see humans getting their brains extracted and placed inside of cyborg type creatures. One remembers who he was and helps Mark escape to part 3 which takes place in the Golden Triangle (filmed in Indonesia). Here they fight on and we get the back plot cliche science fiction filler. <br/><br/>The green screen special effects were decent and anyone who likes watching martial arts fighting against a Predator/Transformer type creature will be right at home. While the action was decent, I found the characters and dialogue to be lacking. &quot;Huggy Bear&quot; (Antonio Fargas) played an old blind guy whose role was insignificant. I would have preferred the old character with Mark slipping him a C-NoteHuggy explains the plot and how to kill the aliens. Characters were very cardboard. <br/><br/>Guide: numerous F-words. No sex or nudity. Its not a bad movie but its far from great. Its a decent action movie that will not bore you but that said thats about all it has going for it. There is virtually no character development, they basically tell you &quot;these are the characters, deal with it&quot; with no little to no backstory. <br/><br/>Some of the scenes just didn&#39;t make sense, in the beginning the aliens were kicking their asses, then by the end suddenly everyone is an expert in martial arts and swinging around knives like crazy and taking on dozens of aliens like they suddenly got weaker… Overall the plot felt rushed. And it also still does not make much sense at all nor did the original skyline… 1 alien travels to earth to take our brains to put them in his slave army of robot/alein suits. So what his whole race are basically enslaved humans? How does our brains power his suits, and why? And what purpose do they serve them?<br/><br/> If the creators of this movie put some effort into character development and explaining some of these wild ideas, this could actually be a pretty good movie. As it stands, its a mindless action flick that requires massive suspension of belief to even watch it. You'll certainly find better alien mayhem films than Beyond Skyline, but some creative special effects, interesting fights, and fun, alien brain-sucking will keep you moderately – but solidly – entertained.
